Singapore Zoo

The Singapore Zoo is one of the biggest attractions of Singapore. Modeled on the 'open zoo' concept, the zoo of Singapore is a paradise for animal lovers.

Also known as the Singapore Zoological Gardens, this place houses and preserves more than 4,000 animals. These animals are kept in landscaped enclosures that are separated from visitors by moats. Heavy vegetation is used to hide these dry and wet moats.

Singapore Zoo is home to fierce animals like jaguars and leopards. For them, glass enclosures are used instead of moats. The absence of crammed cages gives the animals a sense of openness and freedom.

In March 2006, a Wildlife Healthcare and Research Center was set up at Singapore Zoo. Spread across 1,600 sq. m., the construction of this place cost about S$ 3.6 million.

The highlights of this center are a treatment room, surgery room, laboratory, X-ray room, pharmacist, interpretative gallery, animal wards and post-mortem room. Ten vets work here round the clock to ensure that the inhabitants of Singapore Zoo do not face any health-related problems.

Zoological Gardens of Singapore facilitates sponsorship and adoption of animals. You can decide to sponsor the upbringing of any one or many animals in the zoo. However, adoption does not mean you can take them home. Your money and contribution will simply help in providing better facilities to 'your pet'.

Night Safari in Singapore Zoo is bound to be the biggest high of your Singapore tour. You get to undertake a guided night tour of the zoo, wherein you will see various animals prowling in their natural habitat in the darkness of the night.

Singapore Zoo is open on all days of the year from 8.30 am to 6 pm. The entrance fee is S$ 15 for adults and S$ 7.50 for children. You can use private car, hired taxi, bus or the MRT to reach Singapore Zoo.

There are various food and beverage outlets housed in the premises of Singapore Zoo for your convenience.
