Supreme Court and City Hall, Singapore

The Supreme Court of Singapore was built in 1939 and is one of the most imposing structures in the city. And, beside the Supreme Court stands the City Hall of Singapore.

The City Hall, Singapore was built in the year 1929 and is the site of Japanese surrender to Lord Mountbatten during World War II in 1945.

The Supreme Court of Singapore is a brilliant piece of architecture adorned with Corinthian columns and splendid murals. Its classic structure and magnificent interiors make the Supreme Court one of the finest buildings built by the British in Singapore.

During travel to Singapore, tourists can tour the premises of the Supreme Court and City Hall. They are allowed to attend court hearings, except in cases where it is not allowed. Photography or video filming is prohibited in the premises.

While entering the Supreme Court, you need to be properly attired in formal clothes and all sorts of electronic items need to be turned off in the premises.

There are small permanent exhibitions laid out in the galleries of the Supreme Court, a very popular Singapore attraction. It is a great learning ground for students and researchers of law.

The Supreme Court and City Hall, Singapore are open to public between 8.30 am and 5 pm from Mondays to Fridays. On Saturdays, the premises close for general public at 1 pm. No entry fee is required for admission.
